Ex- General Raises Alarm Over Air Crash That Killed Nigeria’s Ex-Army Chief, Suspects Terror Sponsor Ties

Former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Danjuma Ali-Keffi (rtd), has called on President Bola Tinubu to investigate the air crash that tragically took the life of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru. Ali-Keffi claims the crash is linked to terror sponsors.

In an interview, Ali-Keffi asserted that the late General Attahiru played a crucial role in countering insurgency in Northern Nigeria, implementing strategies to dismantle terrorism financing networks and neutralizing key figures.

He pointed to peculiar circumstances surrounding the crash, including changes in travel plans, aircraft, and landing locations, raising suspicions of foul play.

Ali-Keffi highlighted meteorological alerts of heavy rainfall in Kaduna, where the crash occurred, and questioned the delayed flight, suggesting a possible deliberate act to expose the aircraft to adverse weather conditions.

He emphasized the absence of a crater at the crash site, indicating a mid-air explosion, and raised concerns about the official investigation’s transparency.

The retired general further queried if the flight delay was intentional, if the aircraft was sabotaged, or if explosives caused the mid-air explosion.

He urged a comprehensive probe to uncover the truth behind the incident.

Notably, Ali-Keffi had previously led an investigative task force exposing links between senior officials, a top banker, and military figures to terrorism financing.

While the Nigerian Air Force constituted an audit committee and submitted an interim report, Ali-Keffi’s assertions add a new dimension, calling for a thorough inquiry into potential terror sponsorship behind the tragic air crash.

The details of the audit committee’s findings and the final report on the incident remain undisclosed.
