Adeniyi Oluwaseun, the acting Head of the Audit Department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, has tragically ended his life by jumping into a well on Sunday evening.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the incident occurred in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, leaving his family and colleagues devastated.
PLATFORM TIMES exclusively gathered that the tragedy unfolded shortly after Adeniyi had a dinner.
An unconfirmed report stated that the senior staff member, who had been battling mental health challenges and had previously undergone treatment, is survived by two wives and three children.
PLATFORM TIMES reliably gather that the timing of the incident has added to the family’s grief, as one of Adeniyi’s children was set to marry in a month.
It was further gathered that his body was recovered from the well and has since been deposited at a morgue.
A source disclosed that Adeniyi had a history of mental health struggles, although the specific nature of his condition remains undisclosed.
The reasons behind the tragic act are yet to be determined.
The Head of Public Relations and Communication Unit at FMC Abeokuta, Segun Orisajo confirmed the incident and expressed the hospital management’s deep sorrow.
“It is true that he committed suicide. It was an unfortunate incident. The management feels saddened about this development,” Orisajo stated.
He described the late Adeniyi as a hardworking and loyal staff member whose sudden death came as a shock to everyone at the hospital.
“The unfortunate incident caught the entire management off guard. It is a quiet and irreparable loss.
“The management extends its heartfelt condolences to the department, as well as to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased,” Orisajo added.
