    Experts Line Up For Colloquium On Mental Health, Law

    In a bid to address the evolving landscape of mental health service delivery in Nigeria, a groundbreaking colloquium has been scheduled for May 11, 2024. 

    PLATFORM TIMES reports that the  virtual event promises to be a pivotal platform for exploring recent changes in the legal framework governing mental health care.

    Distinguished speakers from various fields will grace the occasion, including Professor Mansfield Mela, Senator (Dr) Ibrahim Oloriegbe, Mr. Y. C. Maikyau, SAN, FCIArb, OON, Professor Taiwo Lateef, Professor Taiwo Obindo, Dr. Law Mefor, and Professor AG Ahmed. Each brings a wealth of expertise and insight, ensuring robust discussions on the intersection of mental health and the law.

    A statement by the COC, Professor AG Ahmed stated that attendees could expect to gain a comprehensive understanding of recent legal developments impacting mental health care in Nigeria.

    Ahmed added that  from implications on accessibility and quality to patient rights, the colloquium aims to foster collaborative dialogue among policymakers, legal experts, healthcare professionals, and mental health advocates.

    He said that the event seeks to instil a culture of compliance and accountability, inspiring participants to advocate for positive change within their spheres of influence.
