    Falode Emerges President As Great Ife Alumni Elects New Global Officers

    The Great Ife Alumni Association has elected a new set of global officers to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years, with legal practitioner and public affairs expert, Barrister Leye Bunmi Falode, emerging as Global President.

    Falode was elected unopposed during the 26th Biennial Convention of the association, which held at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife — the alma mater of all members. The convention drew delegates from branches across Nigeria and the diaspora, reaffirming the global reach and unity of the alumni body.

    PLATFORM TIMES reports that the  Global Publicity Secretary,Great Ife Alumni Association, Abdur-Rahman Balogun disclosed this in a statement.

    In the newly constituted executive council, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media and Public Relations at the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), also emerged unopposed as the Global Publicity Secretary.

    Other elected officers include:Mr. Alabi Adeyemi Joshua – Vice President, North ; Dr Olumuyiwa Kayode Ojo – Vice President, South West ; Dr Johnson Bankole Olumola – Vice President, South South/South East ; Chief Omole Joseph Adewale – Vice President, Africa ;Mrs Christianah Busayo Omisakin – Global General Secretary ; Pharm. Femi Ogunmade – Global Social Welfare Secretary;Mr. Fatai Moshood – Global Treasurer; Dr Collins Ailoje Igaga – Global Financial Secretary and  ;Festus Madu Esq – Global Legal Adviser

    Also elected were Awodeji Adeniyi Esq Olanrewaju as Global Deputy Legal Adviser; Dr Fatoke Babatunde Abiodun, Global Editor-in-Chief; and Mrs Adetutu Febisola Victoria, Global First Assistant Secretary.

    Others include Mrs Bosede Oyesanmi as Global Internal Auditor; Engr. Nureni Kayode Alaaya, Second Assistant Secretary; and regional ex-officio members: Dr Akinjogbin Israel (South West), Esv. Jamiu Saibu (North), and Mrs Okhirueh Abosede Onosen-Iguan (South East/South South).

    Falode, a seasoned alumnus, boasts an illustrious academic journey at OAU, where he earned his B.Ed in History (1989), MPA, LL.B (2002), LL.M (2012), and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Law. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008.

    Beyond academics, Falode has served as a Senior Special Assistant to former Osun State governors, a former Chairman of the Osun State Rent Tribunal, and is the Principal Partner at L.B. Falode & Co. He also runs the El Bee Grandeur Hotel and Lounge, Osogbo.

    His commitment to the alumni association spans several roles, including as Chairman of the Osogbo branch (2016–2020), Vice President (South West), and Chairman of the Convention Organising Committee.

    The newly elected officers are expected to consolidate on the progress of the alumni body and foster stronger ties among graduates of the university both locally and internationally.
