A Twitter user claims incumbent Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress has been declared the winner of the just concluded Osun State gubernatorial election.
Verdict:
The claim is false.

It’s constitutional and common in Nigeria that political parties challenge the winner of an election in the law court, such as the tribunal court, where cases of “stolen mandate” are being heard.
Tribunal cases of such are mostly post-election and a recent example is the just concluded Osun State governorship election where “stolen mandate” cases are in court.
It is on this reality that on November 11th, 2022, a Twitter user, Ahmed Salami (@ahmed_oris) claimed an Appeal Court has declared Gboyega Oyetola as the winner of the Osun State gubernatorial election.
The post reads: “JUST IN: Oyetola wins at Appeal Court, declares the authentic winner of the last Gubernatorial election in Osun State.”
The post has garnered over 200 retweets, 44 comments, and 936 likes.
Verification:
The people of Osun state headed to the polls to cast their votes in the gubernatorial election conducted on July 16th, 2022.
The leading contenders are incumbent Governor Oyetola (APC) and Adeleke (PDP).
Oyetola of the APC was seeking re-election while his opponent from the People’s Democratic Party, Adeleke Ademola joined the governorship race to retire the incumbent.
The result of the election as announced by the electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission shows that Adeleke (PDP) scored 403,371 votes to emerge victorious.
The runner-up was the incumbent governor, Oyetola (APC), who polled 375,027 votes.
After the election, Oyetola hired the service of 50 lawyers in an attempt to make a tribunal court in Osogbo, the state capital to nullify the victory of Adeleke.
Findings revealed that the pre-election matters are still in the tribunal court which had adjourned the case till November 16.
Conclusion:
PLATFORM TIMES findings show that at the of filing this report, the tribunal court was still hearing the petitions of Oyetola and APC challenging the victory of Adeleke of the PDP.
Findings also revealed that despite the litigation, the PDP has inaugurated a committee to oversee the November 27 swearing-in ceremony of the governor-elect, Senator Adeleke, as the governor of the state.
PLATFORM TIMES, therefore, concludes that the tribunal court has not declared Oyetola (APC) as the winner of the Osun State gubernatorial election.
