Families of Abubakar Sadiq Yaji, who was kidnapped few days ago along the Gboko – Zaki Biam-Wukari road have cried out as his kidnappers are demanding N50 million ransom.
Maryam Abubakar Sadiq, the elder daughter of the kidnapped victim, told Daily Trust on telephone that her father was returning from Anpka in Kogi State when their commercial vehicle ran into a road block mounted by gunmen at Jorta, a town located between Benue and Taraba states’ border.
She said all the occupants of the vehicle, numbering 18, were taken to an unknown location by the kidnappers.

Maryam further said that the kidnappers had called the family members using his phone and demanded N50 million.
“Our father was crying as the heartless kidnappers were beating him when they called and demanded for the immediate payment of the ransom.
“The life of our father is at risk because we heard our father crying and we heard the beating and our father appealed to us to quickly respond to the demand of the kidnappers,” Maryam said.
Daily Trust gathered that the road from Wukari town in Taraba State to Zaki-Biam in Benue State was abandoned by motorists due to the activities of the kidnappers and the militia men, who kidnapped travelers at will.
“The road from Wukari to Benue State through Zaki-Biam has become a death trap now because, in the last few days, several travelers were abducted and their vehicles taken away by the kidnappers,” a resident of Wukari town, Adamu Salihu, said.
