Federal Lawmaker Marries Off 105 Orphans In Zamfara State Amidst Celebration

A  Federal lawmaker, Abdul Malik Zubairu, representing Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, has facilitated  the marriage of 105 girls orphaned by the ongoing banditry in the region.

The event took place on Saturday in Bungudu town, the headquarters of Bungudu Local Government Area.

 The brides and grooms  were at the center of a celebration that attracted thousands of well-wishers and community members.

.The lawmaker not only facilitated the marriages but also ensured that each couple had the essentials to start their new lives together.

In addition to the marriages, Zubairu  paid a total of N10.5 million in dowries for the 105 brides.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that each bridegroom received N100,000 to help kickstart a business, and each groom was given N50,000 to assist in setting up their households.

Moreover, the lawmaker supplied beds and bedding materials, ensuring that the couples had a comfortable start. 

This holistic approach not only aims to alleviate the immediate financial burden but also encourages economic independence and sustainability.

In his speech, Zubairu emphasized the need for continued support and collective efforts to address the root causes of the violence. 

He called on both government and private sectors to increase their involvement in humanitarian efforts to provide long-term solutions for peace and development in Zamfara State.
