The Federal Government has disbursed N12.7 billion for the installation of meters in the army barracks nationwide.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the allocation is part of the larger N40 billion mass metering project aimed at improving billing accuracy and ensuring efficient collection processes.
Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, made this announcement during the commencement of the metering exercise at the headquarters of the 9th brigade of the Nigerian army, located in Ikeja Military Cantonment, Lagos State.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative, Adelabu emphasized that the implementation of meters in army formations will provide crucial insights into monthly consumption patterns, thereby eliminating the need for estimated billing.
“This endeavor aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, which prioritizes consistent electricity supply to our armed forces,” stated Adelabu.
“Under this agenda, ensuring that the military enjoys uninterrupted access to public utilities, particularly electricity, is paramount.”
