The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed a total of N1.681 trillion among the Federal Government, states, and local government councils as revenue generated in April 2025.
This was disclosed in a communiqué issued on Friday in Abuja after the FAAC’s monthly meeting, chaired by officials from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF).
According to the document signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, the shared revenue includes N962.88 billion from statutory sources, N598.08 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), N38.86 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), and N81.41 billion from exchange rate differentials.
The total gross revenue for April stood at N2.849 trillion, a significant increase from the N2.357 trillion recorded in March.
The communiqué noted that N101.05 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings gulped N1.066 trillion.
Breakdown of the distribution shows that the Federal Government received N565.31 billion, states got N556.74 billion, and local governments took home N406.63 billion.
An additional N152.55 billion was disbursed to oil-producing states as 13% derivation revenue.
From the N962.88 billion statutory revenue, the Federal Government received N431.31 billion, states N218.77 billion, and LGs N168.66 billion, while N144.15 billion was shared as derivation revenue.
Similarly, the VAT revenue of N598.08 billion was shared with the Federal Government receiving N89.71 billion, states N299.04 billion, and LGs N209.33 billion.
On the EMTL component, the Federal Government received N5.83 billion, states N19.43 billion, and LGs N13.60 billion.
The communiqué added that revenue from Petroleum Profit Tax, Oil and Gas Royalties, EMTL, VAT, Excise Duty, Import Duty, and Common External Tariff (CET) levies all recorded significant increases during the month. However, Companies Income Tax declined sharply.
The FAAC distribution is critical to the financial sustainability of the three tiers of government, especially at a time when many states are struggling to meet basic obligations due to economic headwinds.
