In a continued effort to alleviate the plight of vulnerable communities, Fidelity Bank has embarked on a mission to provide essential aid to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Makurdi, Benue State.
The bank’s compassionate initiative aims to combat hunger among these displaced individuals.
The latest distribution event unfolded at the Federal Housing Estate IDPs camp located in North Bank, a collaborative endeavor involving Fidelity Bank, the Hyacinth Alia Foundation, and the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BESEMA).
Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank Plc, shared insights into the bank’s philanthropic vision.
“The bank’s mission is to extend support to underprivileged communities in collaboration with partner organizations that share a common purpose,” Nwagboh stated.
He went on to reveal that the bank had already distributed a remarkable 24,000 food packs to various communities nationwide, highlighting their dedication to addressing the prevalent issue of global hunger.
Fidelis Unongo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation Strategies, Special Duties, Development, Policy and Planning, extended his appreciation to Fidelity Bank for its generous contribution.
He urged the IDPs to remain patient, assuring them that the governor was attentive to their needs and was actively working to facilitate their return to their original homes.
Chairman of the IDPs camp, Abraham Tar, expressed his gratitude in the Tiv language and promised to oversee the equitable distribution of the donated items to the intended recipients.
Tar also implored donors to consider the health conditions of the IDPs, especially women and children, alongside their material needs.
Reflecting on the impact of Fidelity Bank’s gesture, beneficiaries including Msurshima Kunde, Comfort Lorfa, and Terundu Shima shared their heartfelt appreciation for the bank’s benevolence.
They also advocated for enhanced health services at the camp, emphasizing the importance of accessible and quality healthcare for the IDPs.
Fidelity Bank’s ongoing commitment to easing the hardships faced by those affected by displacement is a commendable step towards creating a more compassionate and supportive society.
