In a significant stride towards enhancing road safety, Pomegranate Nigeria Limited, a prominent logistics company, has donated 30 state-of-the-art breathalyzers to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Command.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the donation ceremony, held at the FRSC headquarters in Abeokuta, saw the Chief Executive Officer of Pomegranate Nigeria Limited, Wole Elusakin, handing over the devices to the Ogun State Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin.
Elusakin stressed the critical role of these breathalyzers in curbing the menace of drunk driving, emphasizing that road safety is a collective responsibility.
“The life of a driver is precious, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure safety on the road,” he stated passionately during the ceremony.
He further highlighted that the initiative reflects Pomegranate Nigeria Limited’s commitment to promoting safe driving practices not only in Nigeria but across the continent, with plans to expand operations into other African and Middle Eastern nations.
The CEO also emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts from all stakeholders in achieving safer roads, noting that the use of breathalyzers will aid in the detection and prevention of drunk driving incidents.
“Drunk driving remains a major contributor to road accidents in Nigeria, leading to loss of lives and property,” he added.
In response, the FRSC Ogun State Commander expressed gratitude to Pomegranate Nigeria Limited for their generous donation, describing it as a significant step towards reducing road accidents in the state.
He stressed the need for intensified advocacy on road safety measures, urging all stakeholders to join hands in ensuring safer roads for all.
Present at the ceremony were distinguished guests including Dr. Bola Azeez, Chairperson of First Adequate Insurance Broker; Engr. Femi Aderibigbe from Idrive, a vehicle maintenance company; Adekunle Adebambo, Head of Operations at Pomegranate Nigeria Limited; and Mrs. Jumoke Aladetuyi, Head of Finance and Control at Pomegranate Nigeria Limited.
