In a groundbreaking move, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the President, unveils the Renewed Hope Initiative, a transformative program aimed at uplifting women across the South West region.

At the heart of this initiative lies a commitment to empowering 120 women with a staggering sum of N60 million.

During the launch event held at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Mrs. Tinubu announces a multi-faceted approach, including the disbursement of N10 million to 100 persons with disabilities to bolster their existing businesses.

Additionally, 20 women farmers per state are set to receive N500,000 each, with a total of N10 million allocated per state for agricultural support.

In a strategic collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Renewed Hope Initiative aims to empower young female farmers, constituting 75% of the beneficiaries, alongside young male farmers, who will receive specialized training and support.

Ogun State Governor,  Dapo Abiodun, underscores the state’s commitment to women empowerment, citing initiatives such as the Oko’owo Dapo scheme and the Ogun Broiler Empowerment Scheme.

He said  these efforts have already assisted over 50,000 women in growing their businesses and have contributed to a significant reduction in Maternal and Child Mortality Rates.

Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the state coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative in Ogun State, expresses gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing its potential to transform the agriculture sector and eliminate discrimination against people with disabilities.

Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, the South West Zonal Coordinator for the Renewed Hope Initiative, echoes this sentiment, highlighting the programme’s role in improving the agriculture value chain and urging beneficiaries to utilize the support judiciously.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the Renewed Hope Initiative stands as a beacon of hope, symbolizing a concerted effort to uplift women, fortify the agricultural framework, and ensure food security and sufficiency in the South West region.
