In a significant stride towards transforming the landscape of banking, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, the country’s premier financial inclusion services organization, has introduced its latest innovation – the FirstBank Digital Xperience Centre (DXC) at the University of Ibadan (U.I) campus.

This center marks the bank’s second fully automated self-service branch, following the success of its inaugural DXC located at the remodeled Adetokunbo Ademola branch in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Equipped with cutting-edge financial technology, the DXC is a testament to FirstBank’s commitment to redefining the banking experience for its customers.

By leveraging advanced digital solutions, the bank aims to offer unparalleled convenience, efficiency, and innovation, placing customers at the forefront of a world-class banking encounter within the continent.

The launch of this DXC represents a pioneering step by FirstBank, as it embarks on revolutionizing the banking landscape in Nigeria.

This state-of-the-art hub is carefully designed to address the evolving needs of consumers and the general banking public. By empowering customers to confidently navigate the digital realm, the DXC demonstrates FirstBank’s dedication to delivering exceptional customer experiences and leading the way in financial innovation.

During the inauguration ceremony, prominent figures from the University of Ibadan community, including Professor Kayode Adebowale (Vice Chancellor), Professor E.O Ayoola (Deputy Vice Chancellor Admin), and Professor Aderonke Baiyeroju (Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics), welcomed a delegation from FirstBank. This delegation included Dr. Adesola Adeduntan (CEO), Callistus Obetta (Group Executive, Technology & Innovation Services), and Timothy Arowoogu (Group Head, Public Sector, West), among others.

The DXC boasts a comprehensive array of modern banking facilities, designed to cater to a diverse range of customer activities without requiring direct interactions with bank staff.

These amenities encompass humanoid robots equipped with Video Banking and Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities, providing friendly assistance akin to traditional branch staff. Additionally, the center features Teller Cash Recyclers (TCRs), Self-Service kiosks for non-financial transactions, Fast Track (Contactless) ATMs, and an Interactive Smart Screen to facilitate remote video consultations with bank sales representatives.

Services offered at the DXC extend beyond basic transactions and include paperless/electronic forms to expedite complaint resolution, account statement dispensing, fund transfers, fixed deposit bookings, card services, and more. Notably, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, FirstBank’s CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting the bank’s commitment to harnessing modern technology to deliver seamless, secure, and convenient banking experiences to its over 42 million customers globally.

As the CEO described, the FirstBank DXC represents a monumental leap towards digitization in the Nigerian banking industry. Since its inaugural launch in Lagos in 2021, the DXC has provided customers with an innovative, self-service-oriented banking experience, solidifying the bank’s position as a leader in the industry.

Remarkably, the DXC is responsible for enabling 95% of customer-induced transactions on FirstBank’s digital channels, and the bank processes over 12% of the industry’s payment volume in Nigeria.

With its launch at the University of Ibadan, the DXC paves the way for a transformative journey in banking convenience and accessibility.

While enriching customer interaction with banking services, FirstBank remains dedicated to its mission of providing state-of-the-art digital banking experiences across the continent.

As the bank continues to redefine its services, the DXC’s influence is set to expand further across Nigeria’s various geopolitical zones in the coming months.
