Operators of Nigeria’s biggest hydropower plants, Kainji, Jebba and Zungeru, Mainstream Energy announced that it has repaired Sabon Pegi collapsed Bridge in Niger State.

The company’s spokesperson, Olugbenga Adebola disclosed this in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Sunday.

Recall that on Friday, a heavy downpour led to the collapse of the Sabon Pegi Bridge.

However, the electricity generation company came to the community’s rescue to repair the collapsed Bridge.

“Mainstream Energy has swiftly repaired the Sabon Pegi Bridge within 24 hours after its collapse due to heavy rainfall on Friday”, the genco stated.

Reacting to the development, Abdullahi, a local youth lauded the initiative, saying, “We pray for Mainstream always because there are very few companies in Nigeria that can respond so quickly to such a problem. They are a highly responsible company.”

Commenting, Siraj Abdullahi, an Executive Director in the company said, “We have brought relief and restored the economic artery of the Borgu Land and the Southern Sokoto and Kebbi States”.

Recall that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet had previously issued warnings of heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding over the weekend, accompanied by thunderstorms.

The flash floods had caused the collapse of the Sabon Pegi Bridge, a vital link between the southwestern and northwestern regions of Nigeria.
