The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has approved the promotion of Abubakar Abdulkadir Mayos of the Adamawa State Command for his honesty and dedication to duty.

Mayos was decorated with his new rank, Corps Assistant I (CAI), on Wednesday by the Adamawa State Commandant, Alh. Idris Dahiru Bande.

On Friday, May 16, Mayos discovered and returned a bag containing 500 US dollars and 300 Saudi riyal, totaling N850,000.

The funds belonged to Ms. Maimuna Salihu, an intending pilgrim from Taraba State who was scheduled to be airlifted from Yola International Airport for the 2025 Hajj.

During the decoration ceremony at the command headquarters in Yola, Commandant Bande lauded Mayos as an officer embodying “principle, steadfastness, transparency and sincerity.”

He urged other officers to emulate his actions.

“The Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has graciously approved the promotion of Abubakar Abdulkadir Mayos with immediate effect,” Bande stated.

He further emphasised the profound meaning of honesty, saying, “Honesty is not just about telling the truth, it’s also about living it.

“It’s about making the right choice, even when no one is watching. It’s about having the courage to speak up, the integrity to act fairly, and the humility to admit mistakes as well,” he stated.
