Communique Of The Maiden Ogun Muslim Assembly Organised by The League Of Imams And Alfas, Ogun State, Held At H3 Event Centre, Oke-Mosan,Abeokuta, Ogun State On Wednesday, 28Th, January, 2026.
The Maiden Muslim Assembly, convened by the League of Imams and Alfas, Ogun State, under the theme: “Synergy, Leadership and Development in the Ogun State Muslim Ummah”, successfully took place on Tuesday, 27th January, 2026.
The Assembly brought together a wide representation of the Muslim Ummah in Ogun State, including religious scholars, titled chiefs, community leaders, representatives of Muslim organisations and Professional bodies, women and youth leaders, government officials and other stakeholders.
The Assembly was honoured by the presence of eminent dignitaries including H.E. Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Deputy Governor of Ogun State; former governor of the state, Senator Ikleel Ibikunle Amosun; the Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial district, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salis; members of House of Representatives ; Hon. Maruf Afuape and Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka; HRM, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu and H.E. Amb. Sarafa Tunji Ishola as well as other members of the Council of Muslim Titled Chiefs (COMTIC) who were the sponsors of the programme.
The Chief Hosts at the Assembly were Shaykh Sikirullahi Babalola, President General of Raabitah, Ogun State; Shaykh Sa’adalallah Alade Bamigbola, Grand Chief Imam of Egbaland; Shaykh Muftaudeen Gbadegesin Ayanbadejo, Grand Chief Imam of Ijebuland; and Shaykh Shehu AbdulQuadri Jinadu, Grand Chief Imam of Remoland.
Other distinguished guests included the Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, ably represented by Prof. AbdulHafiz Oladosu, and the Keynote Speaker, Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun Al-Adaby. Their presence greatly enriched the discourse and underscored the importance of the Assembly for the unity and development of the Muslim Ummah in Ogun State.
RESOLUTIONS
After extensive deliberations, presentations and interactions, the Assembly resolved, affirmed and recommended as follows: The Assembly recognised and affirmed the leadership of the League of Imams and Alfas, Ogun State, as the custodian of Islamic values, as well as the unifying voice and authoritative body for Muslims across the State.
The Assembly resolved to cooperate with the League of Imams and Alfas for the progress and development of Islam and Muslims in Ogun State with renewed sense of commitment, sacrifice and brotherliness as prescribed by he Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).
The Assembly entrust the League to put in place structures and mechanisms to foster collaboration, reduce fragmentation and build mutual trust among all Muslim institutions, organisations and communities in Ogun State.
The Assembly further resolved that within two months, the League shall constitute committees which shall include members from Muslim groups and professional bodies in the State.
These committees will deliberate on thematic areas affecting the Muslim Community, including but not limited to Muslim Education and Scholarship, Legal and Human Rights, Economy and Empowerment, Health and Social Welfare, as well as Security, with a view to proffering practical recommendations and a way forward for the development and progress of the Ummah in Ogun State.
The participants at the Assembly generally resolved to continue to convene under the leadership of the League of Imams and Alfas to deliberate and strategise on issues that concern the interests of Islam and Muslims as the occasion may arise.
The Assembly also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Federal Government of Nigeria for the resolution of the long-standing issues involving the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), while noting that prolonged disputes had disrupted academic calendars and hindered student growth.
By addressing the issue, the Federal Government has restored stability to higher education, reinforced confidence in governance and renewed hope for students, parents, and educators.In a historic conclusion to the Assembly, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede was installed as Hujjatul Islam, while Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun was installed as Faqihul Ummah of Ogun State, recognising their outstanding contributions to scholarship, leadership, and the guidance of the Muslim Ummah in the state.
The Assembly expressed profound appreciation to all participants for their contributions, insights and active engagement, which ensured a rich and meaningful discourse. Special commendation was given to the Council of Muslim Titled Chiefs (COMTIC) for conceiving and sponsoring the Assembly, demonstrating remarkable commitment to the unity, leadership, and development of the Muslim Ummah.
The Assembly concluded with prayers for Allah’s guidance, blessings and protection upon the Muslim Ummah in Ogun State and for the success of the structures and initiatives recommended during the Assembly.
While further acknowledging the continued guidance, oversight and advocacy of the League of Imams and Alfas, which remain critical to fostering cohesion, moral leadership, and social progress among Muslims in Ogun State, Participants were committed to working collectively to ensure that the outcomes of this historic gathering translate into sustainable actions and positive transformation for the community.
