Yekini Nabena  the former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has offered his advice to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, urging him to shift his attention away from the ongoing academic records controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s time at Chicago State University (CSU).

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, Nabena emphasized the need for Atiku to concentrate on the upcoming 2027 election rather than dragging the nation into the past.

Nabena argued that Nigerians have progressed under President Tinubu’s leadership and cautioned Atiku against taking the nation backward.

His statement comes in response to Atiku’s accusations of forgery leveled against President Tinubu during a press conference held on Thursday, October 5.

The former APC spokesman dismissed the noise surrounding Tinubu’s CSU certificate, categorizing it as a matter from the previous election cycle.

He pointed out, “The registrar of Chicago State University, Caleb Westberg, never stated that President Tinubu forged the certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria.”

Nabena underscored that until the highest court in the land rules otherwise, President Tinubu remains the legitimate leader and will continue to guide the country.

He cautioned the public to be vigilant against manipulative reports generated by opposition parties aiming to sow confusion and gain public sympathy.

Highlighting the achievements of the current administration, Nabena cited improved services across government agencies, the clearance of passport application backlogs, welfare programs for the elderly, the removal of fuel subsidies, and government interventions in various sectors.

He asserted that Nigerians are benefiting from good governance and vowed not to allow anyone, including Atiku or Peter Obi, to drag the nation backward.

While calling on party members and President Tinubu’s supporters, Nabena also urged all Nigerians to disregard attempts by opposition parties to create unnecessary tension and disrupt governance.

The political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve as the 2027 election looms, with controversies and debates sure to shape the course of the nation’s future.
