    Former Ekiti REC, Chief Mrs. Ayoka Adebayo, Dies At 89

     Chief Mrs. Ayoka Adebayo, the former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ekiti State under the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has passed away at the age of 89.

     Her death was confirmed on Saturday by Chief Hon. Johnson Olu Fatoki, the Oganla of Owu Kingdom.

    Chief Mrs. Adebayo was a distinguished figure known for her unwavering integrity and dedication to fair electoral practices. 

    During her tenure as REC in Ekiti State, she played a pivotal role in overseeing and ensuring transparent electoral processes, which garnered her widespread respect and admiration from colleagues and the public alike.

    Her tenure was marked by significant contributions to the electoral system in Ekiti State, where she was instrumental in implementing measures that reinforced the credibility of elections. 

    Her commitment to ethical standards and transparent practices left an indelible mark on the region’s political landscape, setting a high bar for future electoral commissioners.

    The statement read that the late Chief Mrs. Adebayo was more than a public servant; she was a pillar of support and a source of inspiration. 

    Fatoki said that the Owu Kingdom in Abeokuta, along with many others who knew her work and character, are mourning the loss of a remarkable leader and a devoted advocate for democracy.

    PLATFORM TIMES reports that the  news of her passing has elicited an outpouring of tributes from various quarters, highlighting her role as a dedicated public servant and a key figure in the fight for electoral integrity in Nigeria. 

    Many have recalled her tireless efforts to promote fairness and her unyielding commitment to the principles of democracy.

    He said funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course. Chief Mrs. Adebayo’s legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations in public service and community leadership. 

    PLATFORM TIMES also  reports that her life and work remain a testament to the impact one individual can have in shaping the democratic processes of a nation.
