    Four farmers feared killed in fresh Borno attack

    Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have killed at least four farmers in Kerawa, a border community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

    The incident was said to have occurred on Thursday between 12 and 1 pm while the farmers were working on their farms.

    This is coming barely two months after multiple explosions killed over 30 persons in Gwoza town.

    The counsellor of Jimini ward, Bukar Aji and the chairman of Kerawa Community Association, Yakubu Ali, confirmed the incident.




    DAILY POST reports that Kerawa is a border town with Cameroon in the Mandara Mountains, where the terrorists are known to be hiding.

    Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Officer of Gwoza Division said he was unaware of the development, promising to verify the report.

    The DPO said the attack could be from Kerawa, Cameroon, and not the Nigerian Kerawa, adding that there was a similar killing some weeks back in Kerawa, Cameroon, but the people confused it for the Nigerian Kerawa.

    DAILY POST recalls that Gwoza was once declared the caliphate of the terrorists when it was captured in 2014, before being recaptured by troops of the Nigerian military.
