The Federal Road Safety Corps, Imo chapter, has sacked one of its officers for participating in the protest by the labour unions in the state.
The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Imo State, Evaristus Ebeniro, said this while addressing newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Friday.
He added that the officer participated in the protest in a special marshal regalia.
Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Unions Congress embarked on a nationwide protest on Wednesday to register their displeasure over the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
Ebeniro stated that the FRSC officer has been arrested, adding that the regalia has been recovered from him.
The Corps Commander said: “The incident prompted the command to commence investigation to unravel the identity of the protester.
“It is now confirmed that the protester who happened to be a unionist was once a special marshal.
“The command hereby makes it categorically and unequivocally clear that the protester is no longer with the Corps and that he acted alone in that show of shame.”
