A frustrated man,simply identified as Ogheneovo has reportedly committed suicide four months after his wife left him .
PLATFORM TIMES gathered the deceased had attempted to kill himself by hanging but, was rescued by a neighbour .
The man reportedly committed suicide by drinking an insecticide at his residence located along Gesimisi Street, Okumagba Layout in Warri, Delta State.
Sources said there was no suicide note left behind by the man, though, the man’s action might not be unconnected with his wife and children who left him in January.
The late Ogheneovo’s wife had reportedly left him “due to constant drinking which got him drunk and made him beat the wife on several occasions”.
A source who was one of the co-tenants who pleaded anonymity said “the wife, who could no longer condone the abuse, left with her three children and left behind the elder one”.
The source further said that the deceased shortly before committing suicide had made a distress call to his son, telling him to call back, but the son who was too busy with customers at his shop returned the call much later.
The son reportedly had to rush home when his father was not picking up his calls only to discover his father’s lifeless body on the bed with a can of insecticide by his side.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe told journalists that such an incident had not been reported as of the time of filing this report.
