Ganduje Fires Back At Kano Governor Over  Bribery Allegations

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has responded to allegations leveled against him by Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, urging the governor to prioritize delivering good governance instead of engaging in what he termed as futile pursuits.

The dispute arises from the state government’s decision to file criminal charges against Ganduje over alleged bribery amounting to $413,000 and N1.38 billion.

Governor Yusuf, upon assuming office in 2023, accused the former governor of misappropriating public funds and allocating land to family members.

The state government disclosed its readiness to present 15 witnesses against Ganduje, along with co-defendants including his wife and son, as well as several companies.

In response, Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, labeled the bribery allegations as an attempt to divert attention from governance failures in the state.

Ganduje emphasized that the allegations were baseless, highlighting a recent Federal High Court ruling that the purported offence falls under federal jurisdiction and should be handled by the Attorney General of the Federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Ganduje urged the Kano government to refocus its efforts on addressing the needs of the people, suggesting they adopt his developmental blueprint.

He also called for a broader investigation spanning from 1999 to the present, emphasizing the importance of fairness and impartiality in such probes.

Asserting transparency in his administration’s governance, Ganduje stressed the need to uphold principles of equity and public interest, rather than engaging in what he described as targeted attacks driven by malice and vindictiveness.
