The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed speculations about his alleged plans to return to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that the party would go into extinction before the end of 2025.
Ganduje’s response follows a remark credited to former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, who reportedly suggested that the APC was on the verge of collapse and that many of its current leaders, including Ganduje, would eventually return to the PDP.
But in a swift rebuttal issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, on Sunday in Abuja, Ganduje described Lamido’s comments as “baseless and illogical,” insisting he had no reason to leave the ruling party for what he termed a “failing opposition.”
“In fact, we will soon receive Sule Lamido into the APC because very soon, he won’t have anywhere else to go. The PDP is dead,” Ganduje said.
He added that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC was gaining more momentum nationwide, with influential political figures from across the country joining the party in droves.
“It is evident to any discerning observer that the APC continues to grow stronger with overwhelming national support.
“We remain focused on consolidating our achievements and are already preparing for a resounding victory in the 2027 general elections,” he added.
Ganduje reaffirmed his commitment to leading the APC, stressing that the party remains united and dedicated to promoting internal democracy and sustainable national development.
He urged Lamido to channel his energy towards resolving the PDP’s internal wranglings instead of peddling what he described as “unfounded speculations.”
