In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Gender Development Initiative (GENDI) has orchestrated a groundbreaking event, featuring an All-Female Novelty Football Match at Mosheed Abiola Polytechnic.

The event, held from 02:15 pm to 5:00 pm, aimed to champion gender equality through sports engagement while simultaneously raising awareness on critical women’s health issues.

The objectives were twofold: to promote gender equality through active participation in sports and to educate attendees on pressing women’s health concerns.

The event successfully married athleticism with advocacy, embodying a holistic approach to women’s well-being.

Attendees were not only treated to a thrilling football match but also engaged in enlightening educational sessions.

However, the event encountered challenges, primarily due to the limited time allocated for educational discourse. Nonetheless, the event’s resounding success highlighted the potential for future endeavors.

Recommendations emerged from the event’s execution, suggesting the allocation of more time for educational sessions, possibly through pre-event communication.

Additionally, streamlining logistics and implementing effective crowd management strategies were proposed to ensure smoother execution in future events.

The All-Female Novelty Football Match not only commemorated International Women’s Day but also underscored GENDI’s unwavering commitment to empowering women through a fusion of knowledge and physical activity.

Despite the competitive spirit, the true victory lay in the camaraderie and unity fostered among participants.

With a final score of 1-0, the GENDI team emerged triumphant, symbolizing the collective strength and resilience of women.

The event’s success was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the GENDI team, led by Assistant Programme Officer, Oyelowo Bolanle Olayinka.
