Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, emphasized the pivotal role of good governance in tackling terrorism and insecurity during a meeting at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House.

Governor Sani asserted that poverty and unemployment were contributing factors to security challenges in the North-West, emphasising the need for a non-kinetic approach centered on good governance.

Addressing the distinct nature of the region’s security issues, Governor Sani highlighted economic problems leading to banditry and kidnapping.

He pointed to hopelessness, lack of education, and financial exclusion as root causes, stressing the importance of supporting farmers and enhancing productivity to alleviate poverty.

As Kaduna State intensifies military actions against banditry and kidnapping, with plans to establish two ‘Forward Operation Bases,’ Governor Sani reiterated that good governance remains a crucial non-kinetic solution.

He underscored the correlation between addressing poverty, supporting education, and achieving lasting security outcomes.

Governor Sani also disclosed a $28 million support from Kuwait to address the alarming rate of out-of-school children in the state.

He emphasized the significance of the Defense Headquarters’ support in establishing the security trust fund, involving the private sector to enhance security efforts.

The Kaduna Elders’ Forum, led by General Zamani Lekwot (retd) and Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, commended Governor Sani for his governance approach, particularly the development of rural areas, which they noted was yielding positive results.
