Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has expressed shock over the demise of the former Minister of Women and Youth Development, Mrs Salome Jankada.
In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday through his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Emmanuel Bello, Kefas described the deceased female politician as an accomplished leader who broke barriers for women in Nigerian politics.
He described the late minister as a trailblazer and an icon of democracy whose life and career exemplified the hard work and determination of women who have paved the way for future generations.
Recounting her political journey, the governor noted that she began her career at the grassroots level as a councillor in Karewa Ward, Yola, in the default Gongola State.
“Jankada’s life radiated the hardwork and determination of women who have broken the mould over the years. she started her political career from the grassroots level as a councillor in a very challenging election of Karewa ward, Yola in the then Gongola state.
“Her sharp political acumen, and deep love for the people as key aspects of her enduring impact, will always remain indelible.
“Her legacy remains that of resilience and commitment to excellence. she would be remembered for her forthrightness and sharp political wits, especially her profound love for people,” the governor said.
Kefas encouraged parents to draw inspiration from late Jakanda’s life and the values she embodied, adding that her contributions to Nigerian politics and society will not be forgotten.
The late minister, who hailed from Taraba State, passed on barely a month after she lost her husband, Chief Jankada.
