Governor’s Spokesperson Summoned By DSS Over Alleged Fake News

The Department of State Services (DSS) has stirred controversy in Osun State by summoning Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson of Governor Ademola Adeleke, for investigation.

Rasheed is alleged to have been involved in the dissemination of fake news against Femi Oyetola, the son of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

The turmoil began when an Abuja-based blogger published a report accusing Femi Oyetola of extortion within the Ministry of Marine.

Subsequently, DSS operatives apprehended the blogger, who purportedly confessed that Rasheed had sponsored the defamatory report.

In response, Rasheed vehemently denied any involvement in disseminating false information about Oyetola’s son, asserting that he would cooperate with investigators during the weekend.

However, Rasheed took legal action by filing an originating summons at the Federal High Court, Osogbo, seeking the protection of his rights.

In the suit numbered FHC/OS/C5/89/2024, the Governor’s spokesperson requested three reliefs, including an injunction restraining the DSS from further inviting, arresting, or detaining him.
