The Organisation for Harmony and Peace (OHP) has unveiled its Halal Marriage Department, an initiative aimed at fostering stable, value-driven marriages among Muslims and strengthening family life in line with Islamic teachings.
The department, according to the group, is designed to address growing concerns over the erosion of moral values and challenges confronting the institution of marriage in contemporary society.
Founder and President of OHP, Ustadh Tajudeen Jimoh Alao, said the initiative would serve as a platform to connect compatible Muslim men and women while offering guidance rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah.
He noted that the programme would prioritise sincerity, God-consciousness, and long-term compatibility over material or superficial considerations.
Alao explained that beyond matchmaking, the department would provide counselling and mentorship to intending couples and married partners, with a focus on promoting mutual respect, love, and understanding.
“In a time when marriages are increasingly under pressure from modern-day distractions and misconceptions, there is a need for structured support systems that uphold the sanctity of nikah,” he said.
He added that the initiative was driven by the belief that strong marriages are critical to building stable families and, by extension, a peaceful and just society.
The OHP boss further stressed that the department would also work to discourage practices considered contrary to Islamic teachings while promoting lawful and dignified relationships.
He urged interested individuals seeking spouses or marital guidance to take advantage of the platform, assuring that the process would be handled with confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to religious principles.
The launch of the Halal Marriage Department, he said, reflects OHP’s broader commitment to promoting harmony, peace, and moral development within the Muslim community.
