The Accord Party candidate for the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly election, Chukwudi Ogbonna has been abducted by unidentified gunmen.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Ogbonna was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen on Monday night while driving in his car at Rumuigbo in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
It was learned that the gunmen accosted him to stop and whisked him away with his car.
Ogbonna’s cousin, Ifeaka Nwakiri, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Tuesday morning, said the family had reported to the police.
“My cousin was driving home on Monday night when he hinted the family that something was wrong. They took him away with his Mercedes car. We have reported the matter at the Kala Police station. We are waiting to hear from the kidnappers and the police.”
Reacting to the incident, Police Public Relations Officer of the Command Grace Iringe-Koko said the police are aware of the situation.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered an investigation into the incident and the results will be made known in due course,” she said.
