Suspected gunmen kidnapped a charcoal dealer named Kola Bosere and his assistant, simply identified as Philemon, in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
It was gathered that the victims were abducted in the early hours of Monday.
According to a source, Sikiru, who exports charcoal to other countries, was taken away by the gunmen along with his assistant, Mr. Philemon.
“Philemon was later released, while Sikiru’s whereabouts remain unknown,” a source close to the family of the victims said.
It was further gathered that Philemon was receiving treatment at a private health hospital in Jebba.
The spokesman of the Kwara State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the incident.
He said the police have since launched a search and rescue operation.
“A case of kidnapping was reported early this morning, with one victim already rescued. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victim and possibly arrest the kidnappers.”
