The Plateau State Police Command says it has arrested a suspected gunrunner, Yusuf Adam, who confessed that he was offered N50,000 to transport ammunition from Jos to Abuja.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that Adam was apprehended alongside three others linked to the smuggling operation.
The police added that they also recovered N300,000 from the suspects.
Speaking when he was paraded at the command’s headquarters in Jos on Tuesday, Adam revealed that he initially demanded a higher fee due to the nature of the job, but the sponsor refused.
“I was sent to collect the ammunition in Jos and deliver it to someone in Abuja.
The man assured me I wouldn’t be in trouble, but I was arrested while collecting the ammunition,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adeshina, said the arrests followed credible intelligence, adding that all suspects would be prosecuted after investigations.
He urged residents to continue assisting security agencies with useful information to curb criminal activities in the state.
