No fewer than 1.2 million pilgrims from around the globe have been cleared for this year annual Hajj pilgrimage.
This was disclosed by the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.
Speaking at a government press conference in Riyadh, Al-Rabiah confirmed that the pilgrims’ journeys had proceeded smoothly, and they were in excellent health.
The minister underscored Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to serving the “guests of God,” highlighting the significant efforts by the country’s leadership to facilitate the arrival and stay of pilgrims at the two holy mosques and other sacred sites.
“We ensure that pilgrims can perform their rituals with ease and reassurance while receiving the highest levels of care and attention,” Al-Rabiah stated.
A key focus of the press conference was the necessity of adhering to regulations and instructions, which is crucial to ensuring comprehensive services for all pilgrims.
To this end, a newly launched international campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of violating Hajj regulations, participating in fake campaigns, and falling victim to electronic fraud practices.
In addition, the national campaign “No Hajj without a Permit,” led by the Ministry of Interior and the Emirate of the Mecca Region, seeks to educate pilgrims and enforce regulations to organize Hajj effectively.
This campaign aims to ensure that all pilgrims can complete their rituals in a comfortable and orderly manner.
“We have taken measures to select companies specialized in hospitality with distinguished expertise and strong financial capabilities,” Al-Rabiah said.
He acknowledged past issues faced by pilgrims from Europe, America, and countries without organized Hajj delegations, often due to subpar services arranged through tourism offices.
“Since 1443 AH, we have organized applications for pilgrims from these regions electronically, ensuring that they receive the agreed-upon services without resorting to middlemen or tourism offices,” he added.
This system, which initially covered 67 countries, expanded to 126 countries last year.
To enhance the efficiency of workers within the Hajj system, Al-Rabiah revealed that over 120,000 workers and leaders of pilgrim groups have undergone training over the past months.
“Over 2,500 training workshops have been conducted in multiple languages within the Kingdom and ten more internationally,” he said.
In concluding his remarks, Al-Rabiah emphasized that Saudi Arabia had “harnessed and mobilized all resources to ensure the success of Hajj 1445 AH.”
