Hardship: Southwest Has No Justification For Protest Against FG- Minister

The Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi, asserted on Sunday that the southwest geo-political zone has no grounds for protesting against the Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government.

Speaking in his country home, Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Umahi highlighted the federal government’s resolution of incessant farmers/herders clashes in the southwest, which had adversely affected food production.

Umahi emphasized that the administration has undertaken numerous projects in the region, contending that the southwest lacks moral justification to join protests against the President regarding the prevailing hardship in the country.

Former Ebonyi State Governor Umahi attributed the high cost of living to cumulative effects of past administrations, asserting that President Tinubu has initiated solutions through various policies and programs.

Addressing concerns about the southeast region’s absence in the protests,

Umahi pointed to favorable appointments of sons and daughters from the zone to positions of authority under the Tinubu administration. He cautioned against being influenced by any group or region to join protests against the federal government.

Regarding the recent Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) protest, Umahi criticized it as unhealthy and unreasonable.

He attributed the present challenges to a build-up of factors predating both past and present administrations, citing historical insecurities and prolonged farmers/herders clashes.

When questioned about hunger and hardship in the country, Umahi acknowledged their existence but expressed confidence that they would soon end, likening the current situation to the darkest part of the morning that precedes the dawn.
