With growing anxiety among business owners and individuals over the implementation of the new Tax Act scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2026, organisers of the Health and Business Conference (HBC 1.0) say the forum will provide clear, practical guidance on the sweeping fiscal changes.
The conference, convened by policy advocate and entrepreneurship coach, Dr. Adeyinka Adegbite, popularly known as Omo-Baba-Tisa, is billed for Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Iwe-Iroyin Hall, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, starting at 12 noon.
Adegbite said the event became necessary following reports that many business owners and individuals are already considering mass withdrawal of funds from their bank accounts before December 31, 2025, due to fears and misconceptions surrounding the new tax law.
According to the organisers, HBC 1.0 will dissect the provisions of the Reformed Tax Law and its implications for artisans, traders, SMEs, and players in the informal sector—many of whom remain uninformed about compliance obligations and opportunities embedded in the new fiscal regime.
The Chief Executive Officer of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Dr. Babatunde Adeyemo, will chair the event, while tax and development expert, Mr. Tunji Gbesan, will deliver the keynote address on the theme: “Reformed Tax Law and the Informal Sector: Pathway to Inclusive Prosperity.”
The conference will also spotlight the role of wellness in workplace efficiency. Renowned medical practitioner, Dr. (Mrs.) Funmi Akinlami, is expected to speak on: “Why Wellness Matters in Productivity.”
To underscore the health component of the programme, organisers announced that free medical checkups will be available to all participants.
The Health and Business Conference is designed as a strategic platform to close the information gap between the informal and formal sectors. It will bring together policymakers, health experts, financial institutions, and business professionals to promote collaboration and access to support systems that enhance economic growth.
According to Adegbite, HBC 1.0 will not only simplify government policies but also strengthen community development, promote business stability, and foster informed engagement with regulatory frameworks.
He added that participants will gain reliable insight into the new tax law and other compliance guidelines, enabling them to make better decisions ahead of its enforcement in 2026.
