Heartland Football Club’s vehicle was on Friday involved in a ghastly accident.

The accident occurred at Umunna, near Okigwe, Imo State, when the club’s players and officials were on their way to Abakaliki for the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT Pre-season Tournament.

It was gathered that some players and officials of the Heartland FC sustained different degrees of injury.

They eventually received first-aid treatment at a nearby facility.

The former Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, side confirmed the accident in a statement.

“The accident happened at Umunna close to Okigwe still within Imo State,” the statement partly read.

“The vehicle in its attempt to dodge an uncoming vehicle collided with another carelessly parked vehicle from another accident.”
