A herder, Umar Salh, has reportedly been killed around Mandun axis of Bokkos local government area of Plateau state.

This is coming less than a week after two herders – a male and a female- were ambushed and killed on a Motorcycle in Tahore community of Bokkos, with their motorcycle taken away by the assailants.

Confirming the latest incident, Chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), in Bokkos, Alh. Sale Yusuf Adam, said the victim was killed and his motorcycle was taken away, adding that the body was dumped in the area.

Adam said the body was recovered together with personnel of Operation Safe Haven from Sector five in Bokkos and mobile policemen stationed in the area.

He said, “We reported the incident to sector five of Operation Safe Haven in Bokkos. The personnel swiftly responded to the scene of the incident and assisted in recovering the corpse of the victim.”

State chairman of the group, Garba Abdullahi, who condemned the incident, called on the security agencies to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He also called on members to remain calm and be law abiding citizens and wait for security to investigate the matter.

John Apollos Maton, Esq, a member of Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC) Vanguard and Secretary, Ron-Kulere Jos & Environs, had on May 20, denied all allegations by the herders against their group.

Spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, Major Samson Zhakom, had not responded to inquiry by our correspondent as of the time of filing this report.

Last week, a security meeting was organized at the instance of Major General Folusho Oyinlola, GOC 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, amid renewed violence in Jos South and Riyom LGAs.
