Tragedy struck in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State as Safwan Fade, a dedicated member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), serving at the Federal College of Education, Pankshin, was brutally beaten to death by hoodlums.
The incident occurred when a group of assailants invaded the Pankshin township stadium.
Confirming the heartbreaking incident, Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, disclosed that the attack took place on January 22, 2025, at approximately 6:00 PM.
Upon receiving the distressing report, law enforcement swiftly responded, rushing Safwan to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to stabilize his condition, complications arose, necessitating his transfer to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
In the course of their investigation, the Police identified and apprehended two suspects allegedly involved in the fatal assault.
Samuel Dang Kat and Zatshinen Wubwerwe were swiftly taken into custody, while efforts are underway to capture other perpetrators who fled the scene.
Commissioner Adesina expressed gratitude to law-abiding citizens for their cooperation and support in combating crime across Plateau State.
He highlighted recent operational achievements of the Plateau State Police Command, emphasizing the arrest of multiple criminals and the recovery of dangerous weapons.
