A businessman, Molokwu Nwachukwu, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for possession of cocaine.
Nwachukwu was said to have hidden “36 parcels of cocaine in different parts of his check-in bags, hand luggage, and two pairs of slippers.”
He was arrested on Wednesday March 22 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos while heading to Southeast Asia.
The businessman was arrested at the screening point of Terminal 2 at the Lagos airport while attempting to board his flight to Vietnam.
The NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi made this disclosure via a statement on Sunday.
Babafemi said, “36 parcels of whitish powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine with a gross weight of 1.00 kilogram were recovered from the handles of Nwachukwu’s bags and soles of two pairs of slippers in his luggage.”
He added that the suspect claimed he travels frequently to China, Dubai, Pakistan, and Vietnam, from where he imports baby wears he distributes from his base in Onitsha, Anambra State.
