Renowned gospel singer and broadcast entrepreneur, Yinka Ayefele, has reaffirmed his unwavering belief that he will one day walk again, nearly three decades after a devastating motor accident confined him to a wheelchair.
Ayefele, who survived a ghastly auto crash on December 12, 1997, said his faith remains unshaken despite the life-altering injuries he sustained during the Christmas-season accident.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, the broadcaster was seen calmly explaining his condition to his triplets, reassuring them that his inability to walk is temporary.
“I still believe I’m going to walk,” Ayefele told his children, urging them not to worry about him.
Recounting the incident, the music icon explained that the crash occurred while he was driving on a slippery road, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
He said the car somersaulted about six times before plunging into a bush and a deep pit.
Despite the severity of the crash, which left him unable to stand, Ayefele said he has never given up hope, noting that he regularly engages in physical exercises in anticipation of recovery.
Since the accident, Ayefele has remained one of Nigeria’s most resilient public figures, building a thriving career in music and broadcasting.
He currently owns and operates several radio stations across the country, including Fresh FM stations in Ibadan, Lagos, Akure and other locations.
Speaking separately on family life, the singer said raising his triplets, born in 2019 after many years of waiting, is no longer a challenge.
“It was difficult at first because I had no prior experience. But now, there is nothing serious about having triplets. They are fun to be with, and I enjoy every moment,” he said.
On the recent attack on his Ibadan-based radio station, Fresh FM, Ayefele declined to give details, stressing that he preferred to allow security agencies to conclude their investigations.
“I don’t want to talk about it. What matters most is that there were no casualties. I want the police to get to the root of it,” he said.
Ayefele also disclosed that he is currently prioritising media expansion over music production, noting that his focus is on strengthening his radio business and creating employment opportunities for young Nigerians.
“I’m not working on any new album for now. My attention is on expanding my radio stations in Lagos, Akure and Ibadan, including the newly launched Urban FM,” he said.
According to him, the expansion drive is deliberately aimed at job creation across several states, including Ekiti, Osun and Ogun.
Through faith, resilience and enterprise, Ayefele continues to inspire millions, insisting that his story is far from over — and that walking again remains a living possibility.
