The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested a Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State, Adam Imam Yusuf, over his alleged involvement in the diversion of more than N3 billion public funds.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that Yusuf, who had been on the run, was tracked down and apprehended at his residence in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that he is set to face prosecution as investigations into the high-profile corruption case continue.
According to ICPC, the fraudulent scheme was allegedly masterminded by former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (retd.), in collaboration with Yusuf and former Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum (retd.).
The anti-graft agency uncovered that the illicit operation involved siphoning public funds through 92 fictitious companies that were not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
The diverted funds were reportedly traced to Lahab Integrated, Gate Coast Properties, and other associated entities, which were used to acquire over 18 properties, including filling stations.
PLATFORM TIMES further reports that so far, four of these properties have been forfeited to the government, while legal proceedings are ongoing regarding the remaining assets.
Meanwhile, the ICPC has intensified efforts to track down other suspects who are still at large.
