    Ideato Rep Raises Alarm Over Impending Cut Off Of Imo Community By Erosion

    The member representing Ideato North South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, has raised alarm over impending cut off ozuomme community in Imo State by gully erosion.

    The Federal Lawmaker who made the appeal while conducting on the spot assessment at the erosion site accompanied by traditional rulers and other leaders of Urualla communities, appealed to Federal and state government to immediately intervene.

    He said if urgent action is not taken,
    Urualla people can no longer connect to civilization.

    Ugochinyere said, “This is Ozumme, there are three erosion sites, all connected to Urualla gully erosion, Arab contractors handling the project with world bank because of some misunderstandings caused primarily by the state government, the world bank pulled away the 9bn naira they were investing. This was caused partly by our people, greed at the time.

    “It’s only concerted efforts from the federal and state governments that can remedy this situation. If this continues and cut off, Urualla people can no longer connect to civilization. I’m pleading with the government to come to the rescue of Urualla people. It’s on the verge of extinction, it’s hitting everywhere. We need intervention to save ideato. We appreciate the federal and state government for listening to our plea, we will be coming with the requests, motions, advocacy.”
