Igbokofi Community Lauds Abiodun’s Educational Intervention, Seeks Road, Health Center Upgrades

The people of Igbokofi, a rural community in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, have expressed profound gratitude to the state government for its recent educational support, while also drawing attention to urgent infrastructural needs in the area.

Pastor (Dr.) Kunle Garb, a prominent community leader, in a heartfelt statement, commended the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for his administration’s gesture of distributing school bags, sandals, and exercise books to all primary and secondary school students in Igbokofi.

The initiative, channelled through the office of the state’s Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who also serves as the Chairman of the Ogun State Border Committee, marked a significant moment for the people of Igbokofi.

“This is the first time such a thing has happened in our land,” Pastor Garb said.
“We are deeply grateful to the governor for including our community in this distribution. I, along with the people of all the villages under Igbokofi, say thank you. God bless you, sir.”

While the community celebrates the educational boost, Pastor Garb used the opportunity to highlight two critical issues affecting the well-being of Igbokofi residents: the dilapidated state of the road linking the town to Ijale Ketu and Ijoun, and the dire need for the refurbishment or construction of the area’s only Primary Health Center (PHC).

According to him, the absence of a functional road has not only isolated the community but also led to tragic consequences.

“Many lives have been lost, especially pregnant women, because of the poor condition of the road.

“ Farm produce has also been destroyed due to the lack of access to even the nearest towns,” he lamented.

Pastor Garb appealed to the state government to prioritise the construction of the road, noting that it would not only ease the suffering of the people but also enhance the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

“The construction of this road will help open up the land of Igbokofi to the rest of Nigeria and boost Ogun State’s IGR,” he added.

Pastor Garb drew attention to the community’s health challenges, especially the high rate of maternal mortality.

“The only Primary Health Center we have serves over 50,000 people. If it is not refurbished or reconstructed, Igbokofi could become one of the highest maternal mortality zones in Ogun State,” he warned.

While he expressed optimism that the recent educational intervention signaled a new chapter of development for the community, he reiterated the need for the state government to address these pressing concerns”, Pastor Garb concluded.
