In response to the recent wave of attacks on villages in Plateau State, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode  Egbetokun has strongly condemned the brutal assaults, labeling them as both barbaric and inhumane.

The tragic incidents, which claimed lives in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, prompted the IGP to take immediate and decisive action to address the crisis.

The Force Public Relations Officer,ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Wednesday, said IGP Egbetokun has ordered the deployment of additional manpower and resources to Plateau State, aiming to collaborate with local police authorities and other security agencies.

Adejobi added that the  strategic move is intended to effectively manage the crisis, ensuring the safety of residents in the affected areas and the entire state.

He said the IGP’s commitment to restoring peace is underscored by the multifaceted approach that combines both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies.

Adejobi explained that, recognizing the importance of a thorough investigation, the IGP has directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and the counterpart in the Department of Force Intelligence to form a high-powered investigative team.

This team is tasked with unraveling the circumstances surrounding the attacks, with a firm commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The IGP urged warring groups, residents, and the entire state to embrace peace and reject violence.

The call for unity and cooperation is emphasized as a crucial step toward ending the recurring crisis in Plateau State.

Expressing heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and loved ones of the deceased, as well as to the Government and people of Plateau State, the IGP assured the public that those responsible for these heinous acts will face the full force of the law.

He emphatically stated that the perpetrators shall know no peace until justice is served.
