The immediate past Commissioner of finance, Delta state, Sir Fidelis Okenmor Tilije has said he is willing to accept public debate on the Finances of the state from any individual or agency that wants to incur and make inquiries into whatever the state has done regarding finances.

The commissioner spoke with journalists in an interview at a send forth ceremony organized by the Ministry of Finance in honour of him in Asaba.

Sir Okenmor disclosed that the World Bank has given the state and the immediate past Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa accolades that Delta is one of the most accountable and transparent states in Nigeria having served meritoriously.

According to him, “the World Bank itself came out with verdict that Delta state is one of the most accountable, and transparent states in the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

He added “And as we kept on saying, I must confess that Governor Okowa was on top of the game, he was willing to accept changes, listen to advice, and was ready to drive those changes when he assigned us to them”.

” That is why we are very bold to tell the world, if you think that the finances of Delta state is such that you are not satisfied with it, call up documents, and they will be available to you”.

He noted that “all the approvals expended both budgetary, supplementary budgetary were such that all the figures were itemized when the bills were sent to Governor Okowa”.

He, however, expressed happiness working with the Ministry of Finance and the Accountant General, saying that their relationship in the Ministry was top-notch in the office.
