The anti-kidnapping unit of the Imo State Police Command in conjunction with other security agencies in the state has raided a notorious ESN/IPOB camp in Ezioha forest in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, made this disclosure in a statement on Friday in Owerri.

Okoye said that during the operation, several kidnapped victims including a 69-year-old traditional ruler of the Umuorji Mgbidi community in Oru West Local government were rescued by the security operatives.

He said the kidnap kingpin, whose group has been terrorising the state in recent times, was also neutralised.

According to the PPRO, on arrival at the terrorist camp, the security operatives were engaged in a heavy gun battle, and in the process, the Gang leader was killed while others took off with bullet wounds.

The police image maker added that items recovered include different vehicles, one pump action gun, 10 live cartridges, four locally made explosives, one Biafra flag, and a native bullet proof amongst others.
