In a somber moment of reflection, the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) community, along with the greater Yoruba nation, mourns the loss of a remarkable council member and esteemed educationist, Iyalode Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson.

She passed away at the age of 72 on the morning of October 28, 2023.

Lawson, a revered figure in the world of education and the Iyalode of Yorubaland, was a serving member of the TASUED Governing Council.

The University Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dapo Oke in a statement on Saturday said Lawson’s  contributions to both the university and the broader educational landscape have left an indelible mark.

The statement read further that the University Pro-Chancellor, Prof Rahamon Adisa Bello, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Oluwole Banjo, along with the entire TASUED community, extend their deepest condolences to the Lawson and Jiboku families.

The statement read “the late Educationist would be missed for her unwavering commitments to the TASUED Dream and her numerous contributions to  the University,  Ogun State in particular,   Yorubaland, and the nation in general

“The University expresses its condolences to the Lawson and Jiboku families as we commiserate with His Excellency Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun, CON, the Visitor to the University,  the Alake of Egbaland His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu the IV  and the entire Yoruba race over this great loss of illustrious daughter of Yorubaland.”
