The Lagos/Ogun Divisional Overseer, Christ Gospel Mission International, Reverend Toyin Adeyemo, has called on Nigerians to embrace God to solve their security challenges.
Adeyemo spoke while addressing the congregation at the District 2 auditorium Christmas carol concert, titled “Redeeming Love,” held in Sabo, Abeokuta, stating that Nigerians must turn away from negative attitudes and show love to one another for God to intervene in the security challenges.
The cleric, who was accompanied by his wife, Pastor Deborah Adeyemo, and several other church leaders, also insisted that the church must continue to seek God’s face, as all efforts so far have almost failed to solve Nigeria’s problems.
Reverend Adeyemo said that Nigerians should emulate Jesus Christ, who loved the world and gave himself as a sacrifice for the salvation of all.
He said Christ taught the world through his mission to love and forgive, as well as living a holy life.
“This message of love and forgiveness is what He has called us to preach as we are in the season already.
“There are a lot of vices in the world, but you should make a difference by building a personal relationship with God and reading the Scriptures to know what is pleasing to Him.
He maintained that the church would play its role in solving insecurity challenges in the country and across the world, urging Nigerians to pray more and trust God for intervention to tackle rising insecurity in the country.
In his sermon, District Pastor Benjamin Alabi urged Christians and Nigerians in general to practice and preach the message of forgiveness, love and hope to make the country a better place.
Using the carol theme “Redeeming Love,” he urged the congregation to demonstrate that love to everyone.
Pastor Alabi explained that Redeeming Love is expressed through Jesus Christ—through His death for our sins and the sacrifices He made for Christianity.
“Redeeming love must be shown through Jesus Christ, just like he died for our sins. We can’t talk about Redeeming love without talking about the sacrifices that Jesus did for Christianity.
“Through this Redeeming love, Jesus Christ gave us restoration. Love brings restoration, and when we embrace it, the difficulties we face become far more manageable.”
