The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Enugu unit, has vowed to enforce strict fuel pump integrity across filling stations under its jurisdiction, warning that it will no longer tolerate cheating and other sharp practices in fuel dispensing.
The chairman of IPMAN in Enugu, Chinedu Anyaso, disclosed this on Sunday after the association’s 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members resolved to set up a task force to monitor compliance.
The Enugu unit covers marketers in Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, parts of Abia, Imo, Kogi, and Cross River States.
Anyaso said the task force, which will begin operations in September, would enforce transparency in fuel sales through dedicated teams in each state.
“IPMAN members unanimously agreed that fuel pump cheating must stop. We resolved to impose heavy monetary fines and sanctions on any member found guilty,” he stated.
The IPMAN boss added that the association was committed to preserving its reputation for service excellence, stressing that it had already eliminated the sale of adulterated fuel within the zone.
Beyond fuel pump integrity, the AGM also addressed the lingering debt crisis between IPMAN members and the Anambra State Government, which reportedly owes over ₦900 million for diesel supplied to power streetlights.
Anyaso said the debt had remained unresolved for over a year despite several letters and appeals to Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
He warned that failure to resolve the matter could trigger a strike action that might push petrol prices in the state to between ₦2,000 and ₦3,000 per litre.
“If IPMAN members go on strike, the consequences will be unbearable. Already, eight members in Anambra have died due to pressure from banks over unpaid loans.
“Some stations have been seized by financial institutions, while others have shut down and laid off staff,” he lamented.
