The Jamhiyat Nuur Somodany Al-Islamy Foundation (JANSAF) has honoured a number of distinguished Muslims for their exceptional contributions to the propagation of Islam during its 2025 Maolid Nabiyy celebration held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The event, which took place over the weekend, drew prominent Islamic scholars, community leaders, and political officeholders, including the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Fadilat Sheikh Saadallah Alade Bamgbola, the Ogun State House of Assembly member representing Yewa North II, Hon. Harun Abdul-Wahab Egungbohun, and a Federal Commissioner with the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Hon. Akeem Amosun.
Led by its spiritual head, Fadilat Sheikh Al-Khaleefah Abdul-Qadri Ishola Olorunseye, JANSAF presented awards to individuals described as “pillars of Islamic propagation” whose efforts, the organisation said, have strengthened moral and spiritual growth across communities.
Among the awardees were Alhaji Abdul-Gafar Majekodunmi Olamilekan, Alhaji Muhammed Lukmon Olasunmomi Lawal, Fadilat Sheikh Sufiyan Babatunde Olamilekan Oyewole (Wazeer Faedot Tijaniyya), Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Afuape Babatunde, Alhaji Moibi Olufondun, Alhaji Nurudeen Sanyaolu (Balogun Adeen Akepe-Oluwa), Mr. Ogunride Morufu, Engr. Wasiu (Oluaye) and Alhaji Wasiu.
In his sermon, the guest speaker, Fadilat Sheikh Abdul-Rofiu Solahudeen (Al-Munfaluty), praised Allah for sustaining the legacy of the late founder of the Olorunseye Islamic lineage through Sheikh Abdul-Qadri Olorunseye.
He noted that the cleric’s efforts in establishing Arabic and Islamic education centres had produced “generations of morally grounded Muslims” in Abeokuta and beyond.
“Sheikh Abdul-Qadri Olorunseye remains one of the shining lights in Islam today. Allah has continued to use him to deepen Islamic knowledge and values through education and other noble initiatives that advance the faith,” he said.
Other scholars, including Fadilat Sheikh Abdul-Lateef Olorunseye, echoed similar sentiments, describing the honouree as a model for Islamic leadership and community development.
The fathers of the day — Hon. Harun Egungbohun and Hon. Akeem Amosun — as well as the mothers of the day — Alhaja (Chief) Habibat Shorunke (Iya Suno of JANSAF), Alhaja Adeola Oluwabunmi, and Alhaja Misturah Ashani Oluwanishola — pledged continued financial and moral support to the foundation’s activities, especially its educational initiatives.
The event also featured Qur’anic recitations and admonitions by learners from JANSAF’s Arabic and Islamic Studies School, who highlighted the spiritual importance of promoting Islam through knowledge, wealth, and influence.
