The Jigawa State Government has set up a taskforce committee to ensure the provision of quality basic health services to vulnerable persons in the state.

Governor Umar Namadi disclosed this at the official launch of free basic healthcare services to 143,500 vulnerable persons across the state held at Banquet Hall, Dutse.

He said the provision of quality and free healthcare services to Jigawa citizens is part of the 12 points agenda of his administration.

According to him: “State Government has released the sum of over N1.5 billion for implementation of the programme.

“The beneficiaries were carefully selected based on the targeted criteria to ensure citizens have access to quality healthcare services without any financial constraints.

“500 beneficiaries were carefully selected in each of the 287 political wards across the 27 local Government area.

“Each of the beneficiary was given an ID card which will be presented to PHC where he was registered to access free basic healthcare services. They are also eligible to benefit with secondary services if the need arises.”

Governor Namadi urged healthcare workers and other stakeholders to take full ownership of the initiative.

He noted that their dedication and professionalism is vital to ensure that citizens of Jigawa State, especially the vulnerable, received the quality healthcare they deserved.
